Tips to Declutter Your Home – Advice From a Former Clutter Bug

If you want some tips to declutter your home, then I have some for you that are really going to work well. At least, they did for me! One year ago, I was your typical “clutter-bug”. I kept everything, thinking that at some time in the future I would actually use it, or that it would be worth something. Boxes lined the walls of my rooms (still from the last move), and knick-knacks covered the coffee tables to the point that to put down a drink, I would have to move something aside. The TV remote – lost. The floor – almost lost. I needed to do something. And I so I got to work. I can proudly say that I am not a clutter bug any longer! And I have some great tips to declutter your home that hopefully will do wonders for you too!

Use the clock to your advantage. If you have a pile of random papers, or a box full of who-knows-what, declutter it in 5 minutes. Give yourself ONLY that amount of time, and work as fast as you can. It is truly amazing how much you can throw out or put away in 5 minutes! This particularly helped me with my stacks of papers. 5 minutes didn’t give me time to look over, re-read, or get distracted by the contents.

Invite over a carefully chosen guest. You know how there are certain friends or family members that you sort of want to impress? Well, use that to your advantage. Make your house a place you can be proud of, once again.

Give yourself a budget to work with. I found that my bathroom looked just too cluttered, so I bought several matching decorative boxes to put on my shelves, and the items that I needed to keep went into those boxes. The difference was impressive! Other items I purchased were a stand-alone pantry cupboard, which went in the playroom (it fits a TON of games, and hides the clutter when you close the doors), and under-the-bed storage containers.

Put up a large bulletin board, and neatly arrange all of your random photographs, cards, mementos, and what-not on it. This will organize the clutter on your fridge and mantel, and wherever else those photos seem to land.

There are several more tips to declutter your home that worked very well for me, but these four are my favorites, without which I would still have to label myself as a clutter-bug. I must say, I LOVE my house now that I have been able to get it all in order – and you will love yours too!

Online Website Business – Working at Home Advice

One of the main pulls of starting an online website business is you get to set your own working hours, and that when everything is set up and running smoothly there is little need to spend 8 hours a day behind the desk. Now, although you have that freedom to set your own work hours, this doesn’t mean you don’t have to set them, because you do!

Having a here and there working schedule, or a lack of a working schedule, will mean one thing… failure. As you know there is only so many hours in a day, and well, time is of the essence. Your time = your money.

Working at home with your online website business can be a good thing. You can be at home to see the kids off to school and be at home when they get home. You can do little jobs around the house and cook dinner for the hungry family before they get back in, and of course there is the money. All these little things can take the stress out of life.

But on the flip side…

It can also be bad if you don’t plan your time well and if you don’t set up a work schedule that you and your family can live with. If you’re not efficient in accomplishing the tasks that must be done, you’ll either spend too much time working or you’ll fail miserably at your work at home online website business.

You must set up a work schedule for yourself when you work at home and then you must enforce that schedule for yourself and insist that you family and friends also respect it. A job out in the traditional bricks and mortar world does two things:

(1) It provides a structure for your day

and…

(2) it tells your family and friends that your time is spoken for during your working hours.

You will notice that both of these things that a regular job provides both relate to your TIME.

So let’s discuss the structure that a regular job provides and how you can apply that structure to your work at home job or business. When you have a job that you go to outside your home, you’re required to be at that job at a specified time on specified days of the week. When you have a work at home online website business, you need that same kind of structure. You need to set regular working hours. The freedom that a work at home business provides is that you can choose the hours…but you do have to choose them!

Now, let’s talk about your family and friends and how they are going to view your work at home business. It’s strange but the fact of the matter is your family and friends normaly wouldn’t dream of ringing you in work in a “real” job, asking you to do this and that. However, when it comes to working at home it’s OK… after all… You’re not really working, are you?

To some loved ones working at home means you are available to run errands, have long telephone conversations, or have a long lunch or coffee break.

You can see the problem. If YOU do not schedule your time and abide by your schedule yourself, never will others. Unless you see your work at home online website business as a REAL job with REAL working hours, your time will be eaten up. You will not accomplish the tasks that you need to accomplish. You will fail and find yourself out looking for a “REAL” job unless you see your work at home online website business as the REAL THING, with regular working hours that make you unavailable for other activities.

The best way to accomplish using your time to your own best advantage with your work at home business is to make a schedule and tell your family and friends what that schedule is. You don’t have to be rude but you do have to be firm. Make it clear to all. “I will be working between 9 AM and 2 PM Monday through Friday. On those days and during those hours, I am NOT available to run errands or take personal phone calls or entertain company.” Stick to it! And you will gain more.

Why Are You Not Working From Home and Turning Your Annual Income Into Your Monthly Income?

There is a growing population who are taking action and making a change. They have the desire to take a different route, a route that many have heard about but have also questioned at the same time. You see we grew up listening to our parents and grandparents telling us to go to school and get an education. Then go to college and once you graduate, get a job with a good company. A company with a good reputation that will provide full benefits, a retirement plan, and the ability to move up the corporate ladder. That philosophy is changing drastically every day. Don’t get me wrong, go to college and get an education. But when you’re done, think about a career path that is the opposite of what your parents told you to do.

What I’m talking about is becoming an entrepreneur and creating your own online business. You’re probably thinking, I have no idea where to even begin to start a business let alone something on the internet. The answers to those concerns will be discussed a little later. 2008 proved to be a tough year for many. There are very few companies that have strong reputations anymore. Layoffs are happening left and right and job security no longer exists. Companies are cutting costs and that might be your benefits or 401(k). Not only that, but you work 40+ hours a week, have very little time to spend with your friends and family and a small paycheck that just barely covers the bills and a good dinner out once a month. Working on the internet can change all of this. Here are three great reasons why you must get started today.

The Power Of The Internet
Did you know that over a billion people use the internet every day? We have the ability to communicate with anyone, anywhere in a matter of seconds thanks to the internet. In 2008, there were 1.3 billion email users worldwide. Over 210 billion emails were sent. At the end of 2008 there were 186 million registered websites. 31 million were registered in 2008 alone. While there may be a recession taking place across the globe internet purchases are up 20% this year. These numbers are only going to do one thing, and that’s increase. Unlike owning a local store that has hours of operation from 9am-6pm and is only accessible to those within your geographic area, the internet is working 24/7/365 worldwide. Your business is running while you are taking the kids to soccer practice, while you’re on vacation and even while you sleep.

Your Daily Commute To Work
People travel to and from work in many different ways. Car, bike, bus, subway, and if your really lucky you can walk. Some commutes are a piece of cake while others may take up to an hour or more one way. That sounds miserable. What if you had an internet business and a laptop? How would you like that commute each morning? If you are at home you can be working within a matter of seconds. Since all you need is a laptop and an internet connection you can work anywhere. Imagine taking a trip once a month in which you were gone for a week. Just a few hours of work in the morning and then your off to enjoy your vacation. You can’t do that working for someone else.

Job Security/Compensation
The best thing about being an entrepreneur is that you are in control. That is the ultimate job security. You no longer have to depend on your company succeeding to make sure you receive a paycheck every two weeks. There are a lot of internet home businesses out there so make sure you pick the right one for you. Choosing the right program to go with is like writing your own ticket. The income possibilities are unlimited. People are making $10k, $50k, even $100k+ using the internet each MONTH and only working 3-5 hours a day.

I told you that I would give you more details about starting your on online business. If you are not computer savvy or don’t know much about the internet that is okay. You can still become very successful in this business and make a ton of money. It is important to choose a company that provides tremendous support and offers a step-by-step process that is foolproof and will allow anyone to succeed. It is also important to have a support team to help guide you and answer any questions. So what are you waiting for? Get started today and make a plan to quit you boring job within the next 90 days.

Are you a leader, innovator, action taker or a follower staying on the same boring path that will continue to frustrate you?
